8 bit - CHEZ

The utter terrors of being a parent in this digital age are vast. This is one you can potentially avoid by saying things with your face mouth out loud.

In honor of my spawn and my one morning freak out, I will tell a tale.
I am a lover of Hill Climb Racing 2.
Full guilty pleasure game, I am thejikz on there, you can find me in world rankings Read more…

bit 7 - Pixelized Character Sets

In a strong desire to create a sort of educational capsule for gemini:// -- I am starting to tinker with the idea of pixelizing the hiragana and katakana sets.
This will be for my own purposes in learning several concepts at once to maximize my learning in general I suppose- the pixelized sets exist in many forms-where would tamagachi be without it?

bit 6 - GEMINI LIFTOFF

The description is here now.

I was able to get my VPS put up with 2 separate implementations, settled on the easier one for now. I am able to publish and serve to the Gemini protocol now!

I hope it lasts, the goals will be porting this site to it as a bi-host. The third area to get into will be activitypub federating things.

bit 5 - NO MOUSE

No, Really, Try It!

I do not condone this for production. I would do this as a challenge for 2 to 5 minutes at a time, spread out. Which is how I did it.
I changed my settings in windows to be the numpad!
Now I can psuedomouse around. The Downclick and Upclick thing is going to take getting used to.

The click mechanism is just dragging functionality. Silly me! I have an article now: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/use-mouse-keys-to-move-the-mouse-pointer-9e0c72c8-b882-7918-8e7b-391fd62adf33

Go there, button maps work very well!

bit 4 - An ASCII Grid Editor

I have no place to run, I must create or find or cobble this item.

Key must haves:

  • ability to switch insert/cursor mode, and move left right up down directions by hitting alt+[↑↓→←] arrow keys or some similar combo
  • dirt simple interface for keymapping, allow ext support later.
  • fun have, ability to repath the string flow from left to right, up to down to literally any pattern that does not leave the grid un-covered. it can be scatter plotted so it can be even a pad to use with friends...in any case it would still return a standard, line breaked, left to right, top down binary text file.

This premise paired with key mapping "palettes" would make a quite robust ASCII editor a la a pixel editor, which mode could be made, assuming the canvas is WxH chars of spaces, or optionally the ASCII whitespace character.

This leans toward an image to ASCII feature later on. hmm.
